Sometimes patients have emotional reactions, such as stress, anxiety or depression, that accompany a medical diagnosis and its subsequent treatment plan.
Dr. Dryer is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Psychoanalyst who helps patients become more aware of such emotions and how to handle them. In this way, patients can ease both their physical and emotional stress and distress, and thus speed physical recovery, and become more satisfied with their lives and with their interactions with others.
In working with individuals, couples and family groups, Dr. Dryer listens carefully to each person's concerns, and starts the work "where the patient is."  She uses a wide variety of approaches and techniques (ranging form cognitive behavioral to psychodynamic) to help patients define their therapy goals and to outline steps to reach them.
As an Adjunct Associates Professor of Psychology at New York University, Dr. Dryer also teaches and supervises at various institutes in NYC. She gives talks and workshops to physician groups and the general public on such topics as "Living with A.D.D."  "Realistic Dreams,"  "How to Survive and Thrive With Your Medical Condition," and "The Caregiver Needs Support Too!"
